We recently had a major remodeling project done at our home, extending our living space into the garage to build a new laundry room and large pantry. Once it was completed, we needed a professional contractor to build custom shelving in the pantry. After a Google search, I am so happy the results included Pro-Finish.

Contacting the owner, Mr. John Shields, was effortless and he returned my call promptly. During our consultation, John was professional, friendly, and personable. He clearly explained the process, and before starting, he sketched the shelf placement directly on the wall in pencil, collaborating with me on every detail. He even offered to adjust anything as needed. While John clearly knows the gold standard for project execution, he valued my input and elevated my initial DIY internet inspiration into a superior, more evenly spaced design. He also shared trusted recommendations for painters and countertop installers to complete the pantry work.

Before work began, John clearly outlined expectations—explaining what materials were needed, how down payments worked, and setting up a workspace in the garage for tools and materials. He estimated 2.5 to 3 days for completion.

Jim, the wood craftsman, did fantastic work and finished the job a bit ahead of schedule. Seeing his skilled craftsmanship immediately put me at ease, and it was actually fun to peek into the pantry and admire his progress!

The team also respected our home: they kept dust to a minimum using specialized vacuum equipment, protected our floors with mats, and thoroughly cleaned both the pantry and garage spaces when finished.

John was incredible to work with. I started with having paneling done to my husband’s office. I needed it done quickly and he was able to fit me into his schedule. He did such a great job that I had him come do my kitchen cabinet installation as well. Then I had him add wainscoting as well as all new baseboards throughout my entire home.
He did an excellent job! The kitchen cabinetry I ordered was from Home Depot and the cabinets had arrived improper size and had a few other issues. John and his co-worker Andrew got creative and fixed all the issues. His communication was excellent! He kept me involved along the way and made sure I was happy each step of the way. I truly am so grateful I found John to help me with my home renovations! I highly recommend working with him!

I made a great decision when I chose John and his crew at Pro-Finish. I had obtained a couple of other bids that were to the roof. John came in at a third of the price I was quoted. During the walk-through, he suggested I buy cabinets for the laundry room at Home Depot since it Is a laundry room, to save money and he would mount them. He and his crew replaced all the wire shelving in the closets with wood, new rods and some with 24" cubbies. Our master closet looks beautiful, thanks to the expect craftmamship from Bill and Andrew. We have so much more room than before. Bill also trimmed and hung a pantry door for us. They built some garage steps to replace the ones already installed. They look twice as good now. Very professional look. We also asked John to add lofts to our storage room. I wanted to be able to store things we dont use as often in the lofts and get it off the floor. We were not expecting what we saw. It was a WOW response to the work done. What a fantastic job! I trust John. He is reasonable and we didn't feel he added a bunch of fluff to his price. I would call him MY carpenter now because I will never need to use anyone else with future projects. No job is too small.

John installed crown moulding for my home and it is beautiful. He was on time for job estimate and job start to finish. He paid attention to all the details to make sure we had a quality finished product. I will have John do any projects for me in the future and would highly recommend him.

John and his team did an amazing job installing door casings, baseboards, and crown molding in my bedrooms. They immediately identified various issues with my previous door installations and corrected them before starting on the casings. Communication was excellent, and I appreciated them helping me choose the right materials for the job. They took great care on protecting my newly installed floor, and took the time to do quality work and make each room look pristine. Highly recommended!

Mr. Shields and his crew made this amazing transformation happen. I absolutely love our new fireplace. My husband and the kids uninstalled the old fireplace, but we couldn’t make any progress for two years after that.

Then I found Pro-Finish and looked through their amazing work. Finally, I decided to move forward with redoing our fireplace. Mr. Shields guided me from the beginning all the way through to the final result.
